A long long long.....road trip. Part 1

2 week of holiday is not enough for me to go back tawau. Instead, I went for a road trip. Yes, a long one. 1st Tip of the day: Don't be naive and think you can drive from perth to sydney in 4 days. (Though we did it anyway)

The day started early 7a.m with salmon+pesto baguette at the uni club, rocket fuel latte for the caffeine shot. Off we go to our first destination: Esperance.

Along the way a sweet angel voice guide us to our destination using the 'best' route. The sweet angel's name is 'G.P.S'. It's just weird when we're talking in the car, if she starts saying:"Turn left at 800m." We would both shut up and listen carefully. It seems as though we have to respect her as well while she speaks.

We reach Esperance at about 3p.m....desperate for the loo. Dinner at Loose Goose was quite an experience. It's the most famous so-called-restaurant in Esperance. Food was good. Quite homey. These are the type of food you want when you're super duper cold during winter. Though the menu make us pause a while. See the lame...i mean lambs brains?

Esperance sun rise view is to die for. After a brief cam-whoring session, we're off to our next destination.

We reach the border SA-WA at 3p.m. Wonder what it looks like?
A. A white line in the middle of the road connecting WA and SA
B. You can tell by looking, for example: Green on one side, desert on the other side

Ladies and Gents, this is the BORDER. I know..quite dissapointing right.
So anyway. We continue on with our journey. So you thought since we reach SA, we'll reach Adelaide soon? Guess it again.
Question of the day:
Guess that time we reach Adelaide, when we start driving at 7a.m from Esperance?
Who is able to guess it right without cheating, contact me for award.
Until next time.
Signing off.

Bunburry-Part 1

A few weeks ago ( Kinda long, but I don't have time to post blog till now, my bad), I went to Bunburry for fishing trip. Bunburry is a small town 3 hours drive from perth. *TIP* If you see a red bull (Not the drink, silly), then you're on the right track according to Dr Dunn.

Anyway, the trip started with bad weather, half charged i pod, not a drop of water in the bottle, 1 chocolate croissant and 1 almond croissant. I would say we're pretty bad organisers for road trip but it's ok. After 3 hours of driving, we reached Bunburry safely. We're welcomed with warm hugs by the Dunn family, chops and of course, lots of kisses from Toby. Brian-dad took us to my long awaited fishing trip beside the sea. Even though it's cold and wet due to the rain and wind, I feel warm inside.

I guess everyone starting to wonder why I like fishing. Well, for start I love the sea, and fishing is the best excuse to look at the sea without poeple jumping on you trying to 'save' you from suicide.
End result for the day: Wet, fishy, cold but super duper happy.
Fish:None. A poor crab who got thrown in sea, and someone with red finger. ( It was funny though)
*Moral of the story, don't try to grab crabs with your bare hands.*

The awesome thing is, we even get to see dolphins in the sea. A sign of luck I pressume..

The night ends with awesome dinner, a lot wii-ing. And sleeping with a lot of stuff toys on bed. Continue on part 2 next time.

Signning off,

My trip

It's been quite a while, I, as editor, haven't update my little column here. A few months, my life is totally changed. For the worst? Or for the best? I will never know.

A rotto trip is what I needed to get myself back to my system. Same old place, same old rain, but it's all different.

I had the same dream over and over again. Singing a song by James blunt, riding bike in rottnest island, just like 2 years ago. Even though it's raining, I was laughing the whole time. Even though it's cold, I'm warm inside.
Pathetic dream, I would say.
A sad blog huh? I wish I could be more entertaining in the next one.

Happy Chinese New Year lame brains

Happy Chinese New Year for every Chinese out there. For those who are not Chinese….go back to work/study. It’s none of your business. (Nah nah nah…*being smug*) Why we need Chinese new year? Well…for me, it’s just one good excuse to spoil myself with candies and soft drinks…what about you?? Some might say for the ang pau ( I don’t blame you ..you bunch of gold diggers); others..you let me know.

There are many ‘customs’ we need to follow during lunar new year. Here are some of the customs in my family, and rules that Editor, me…follows.

Top 10 Chinese New Year customs ONLY for me

10. No sweeping? My mum says: “ We sweep every single day..I don’t want my house to look and feel like garbage can during Chinese new year”. (She has her point)

9. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Yes…so important that we get proper meals like rice, dishes, soup meals for the first 3 days of Chinese new year. My grandma: “ It’s the only time we get to see everyone…” Cause afterwards we are on the hunt for ang pao.

8. Never..I say...NEVER go to cafes+yum cha. Not only you get to charge double for the same old stuff you get everyday. It's like war out there. At one point I remember I only get one dish of dim sum for the 1 hour sitting in the cafe!!!

7. I don't care what other people wear. Yup. I really don't give a damn. For those who dresses up...like chun li ( the street fighter character...Trust me..I saw one who literally dresses up like one). Please...just go in front of mirror and take a look at yourself. I don't mind if you want to be pretty for chinese new year, but..be the best looking you can be...not be someone who you are not.

6. I will wear black if I feel like it. I know...It's bad luck to wear black-according to chinese customs. But, imagine a room filled with people who wear red. It's like in H*LL. So, unless I'm wearing black, with a broom and a black cat. Just leave me alone in my own little world.

5. NO MORE NEW YEAR SONGS PLEASE!! Arrggh..I can't take it....

4. Why Mandarin? Have you wonder why when you go in someone's house, seeing those grown ups having mandarins? Anyone can tell me why? Is it a trend?

3. For girls only- NO BIG BAG. Do not bring a overly huge bag when you go friends house. There's only 2 really bad reasons you're doing that. 1st, you're giving signs that you're a gold digger, hunting for ang pao. 2nd, you were trying to steal those candies on the table.

2. For guys only- No ugly japanese flip-flops. I don't care if you feel comfortable, you look like an idiot. Pay some respect.

1. Hola for those who 'invented' 15 days of chinese new year. We get to celebrate 15 days...not just one...muahaha~~

My little trip to capital city of Malaysia-Kuala Lumpur

After the long 2 months of summer holiday, the much awaited trip to KL, is the time of relief and celebration for me. Relief, is because I don’t have spend my time looking at the time on the clock, counting the time I need to wait till I get to bed at night, it’s the only time I don’t have to think. Celebration, is because I finally get to splurge myself, with shopping spree.

With my little over 6 kilos of luggage (total), I headed of to KL-the city that never sleeps. After 2 hours and 45 minutes of Air Asia experience, which isn’t that much of a fun, I finally smell the air of the city-polluted air that is.

Shopping starts first thing in the morning. Summit is the first station, followed by mid valley. I was still craving for more after 8 hours of non stop ‘cardio exercise’+ ‘weight lifting’ when my friends drag me to the most important event of Wednesday night-the legendary Pasar Malam. No regrets going to Pasar Malam-Great food, great bargains, a massive crowd. Tip #1 before you go to pasar malam-Make sure you wear your shorts and thongs. IT’S FREAKING HOT!

For the days, Shopping is still priority, but thanks to sweeties Ginny and Aaron we’re able to go relax at a hot spring spa- A good rest from all those retail therapy. We went to Kim Gary for dinner, Secret Recipes for lunch, Williams for supper and Pavilion, just for the hell of it…cause we can’t afford stuff in there. At the last night before we left, we even get to go to sky bar. Looking at the ‘twins’ at night is awesome for like 5 minutes…well, we’re from the 21st century where we have short attention span due to televisions. Music sucks, but the companies are great.

Overall, I, the editor had a blast. Hope more trips to come…after I overcome my bankruptcy.

*Special thanks to sweetheart Kenichi for standing by my insanity when his foot is bleeding. Ginny and Aaron A for bringing us to great places. Henny for coming to meet us for Kim Gary. Aaron C and Suk Hui for the Williams. Vern Li for sky bar. And Eu Jo, nice meeting you.
